It's not in the rules, but a procedural change for this year has been made. The steering committee decided to make Yancy earn his spot on the SC, so Yancy will be Money Man Yancy. Every meeting, instead of twenty-some people whipping cash at the host haphazardly, members will instead pay Yancy. It's now his job to keep track of who pays and remind those who do not. At the end of the evening, Yancy then gives all the money to the host. This change is intended to lessen the burdon on our hosts by giving them one less thing to keep track of while hosting.
New rules for 2010!
March 10, 2010
The revised Chicago Pinball Mafia rule set for 2010 has been posted in the Goodies section. The executive summary of the changes is:
EOET is now open to all players (opt-in), not just the top eight from that evening.
Accordingly, EOET wins are no longer used as a tie breaker.
Anyone who attends a full evening but cannot play (due to a full roster and being an alternate, being injured, or other on an ad-hoc basis) will be awarded 24 points.
The B division tournament structure has been scrapped. B division playoff structure will now mirror the A division, except with the B players.
Byes are no longer permissible in the A division playoff. Players will be advanced as detailed in the rules.
As always, CPM welcomes feedback and discussion on the new rules in the forum.
The winner of the 2009 Division Champion is TheKorn! He was the top points earner for the entire league's regular season besting all others with a league score of 306 total points.
TheKorn is the 2009 Division Champion of the Chicago Pinball Mafia!
Chicago Revealed Television Spot
November 11, 2009
The Chicago Revealed television spot that was shot at the September meeting has emerged from editing. It is being shown on cable channels 23 & 49 in the city, and on youtube for the rest of the world. The video production values are very high and the spot is quite impressive. This spot accurately capture the 'spirit' of not just a Mafia event, but the joy of playing pinball itself. The Mafia would like to both congratulate and thank Chicago Revealed for the opportunity to showcase ourselves in such a high quality fashion.
Just in case you're hiding under a rock, this week is Pinball Expo in Wheeling, Illinois. If you're anywhere within driving distance of Chicago, you owe it to yourself to check it out! (link)
